Shaneen Fantin

Dr Shaneen Fantin is co-Director of POD (People Oriented Design), which is a nimble, multi-disciplinary practice committed to social and environmental sustainability and intercultural design. She has an unusual combination of skills and experience that includes architecture, stakeholder engagement, project management, research and teaching. Shaneen is a registered architect and social justice advocate with over twenty five years experience on health, housing, community and Indigenous projects in Australia and the Pacific. Shaneen sits on the Queensland Urban Design and Places Panel. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Queensland and at James Cook University where she has coordinated the Social Outreach Studio and teaches in community engagement, architecture, and Indigenous environments. Shaneen has been writing about, and practicing, bi-cultural production, co-design and intercultural design since 2000. The methodologies POD applies to projects often transcribe into innovative outcomes and unexpected social benefits.
