Anthony is an urban design teacher, practitioner and researcher at the Australian Urban Design Research Centre (AUDRC) at the University of Western Australia. He has also worked in the fields of transport planning, civil engineering and architecture. He has developed his applied research to tackle the broader challenges of the urban intensification of sprawling cities focussing on the role of planning policy and social engagement.
Over the past several years Anthony has developed and trialled a number of innovative and engaging physical interactive spatial planning and design models and ‘serious games’ to enable co-design of urban plans, projects and policy. These tools have received planning awards and been applied in international contexts. They aim to democratise design and embed community and stakeholder knowledge, values and custodianship into urban plans and policy, generating shared and enduring frameworks for growth and providing an essential contribution to achieving sustainable development goals.
